Architecture in Architecture consists of a series of case studies on projects of architectural transformation, where multiple relations, which are possible between the new and the existing, define the field of action of interior design — or put differently the transformation of large parts of urban areas as a question of interior design.

In this context the physical dimension of architecture and especially of the interior, exemplified in the relation between the architectural body and the human body, has been the central point of reference and unifying topic. Here field studies and photo reportages are combined with attentive analytical drawings and descriptive short essays.

Special focus has been put on the peculiar case of the transformation of buildings with large scale interiors, such as dismissed industrial, infrastructural, agricultural or cultural buildings.

This research is part of the programme ‘Cities in Cities’.
