The first format of Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen was the ‘Preis zur Förderung der Baukultur / The Prize To The Advancement Of The Culture Of The Built’. The foundation had the honour of awarding this price several times to a wide selection of remarkable projects and initiatives, from buildings and landscaping projects to projects of urban redevelopment or projects of conservation of significant portions of the built heritage, from the publication of a book to an innovative format on the radio or a movie. Every single work in this list is a precious gift to us all and the catalogue ‘Ausgezeichnet’, whose title carries the two meanings excellent and awarded, recollects them for the first time. Beyond the works, which were awarded over the years in the different editions of the prize organised by Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen, the catalogue also incorporates the winning projects of the different competitions held by the foundation or noteworthy model projects, encountered through one of the numerous research projects carried out by the team of the foundation.

All the works are presented both in an index as well as on a map. Several examples are located outside the state, testimony to the fact, that architecture and engineering, that Baukultur does not recognise administrative boundaries, that collaboration today acts on a global scale and that an intervention in one place can have an impact at a distance on another place. Each of the entries is presented through photos, texts and is accompanied by a list of all the details about the work as well as the team behind it. Some entries even have marvellous films about them. A link connects to the project, award or initiative the work is part of.

In combination with the ‘Netzwerk der Baukultur’, another section on the digital platform of Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen, the catalogue ‘Ausgezeichnet’ gives an insight into the current developments in and around Thuringia. When visiting the publication, you will encounter exemplary experiences to follow as well as the invitation to participate in the discourse through a contribution of your own.
